If the door switch is intermittent, the control thinks the door popped open and halts the cycle. A light tap or a bump can restart it — a strong clue it's the switch.
Moisture sensor or control board
Auto-dry cycles read a moisture sensor. If the sensor is coated in fabric-softener film or the board misreads it, the dryer thinks the load is done and stops early. The diagnostic separates a sensor issue from a heat issue.
