I run a GE dishwasher myself, their cooking appliances are solid, and if my old Whirlpool fridge ever quits, I'm buying a GE. Refrigerator defrost system
Common across many GE refrigerator models. Defrost heater, timer, or thermostat failure causes warm fridge, cold freezer. Known repair.
🔥 Range / cooktop burners not lighting or heating
GE gas burners not igniting (clicking but no flame) is usually a worn igniter or a dirty/misaligned burner cap — an easy, affordable fix. On electric and induction, a burner that won't heat is typically the element, switch, or a control fault. On newer GE ranges we read it right through SmartHQ.
Washer agitator dogs / coupler
Older GE top-loaders had distinctive agitator failures. The agitator clicks but doesn't grab clothes.
Dishwasher control board / heater issue
Some GE dishwasher models have known heater element failures.
Profile microwave magnetron at end of life
5–10 year typical magnetron lifespan. Replacement is straightforward on most over-the-range units.
