What We See Most Often
GE refrigerators have known failure patterns our techs have seen across hundreds of jobs. Knowing the platform's quirks means faster diagnosis and the right part the first time.
💧 Leaking water / ice on the bottom of the freezer
Water on the floor, water pooling inside the fridge, or a sheet of ice under the bottom drawers is almost always a clogged, frozen defrost drain — it backs up, refreezes, and overflows. It's the most common fridge repair there is, and an easy, affordable fix: we clear and thaw the drain and add a drain heater/clip so it doesn't re-clog. Common on Samsung, Frigidaire and GE side-by-sides, and virtually all top-freezers.
🌡️ Fridge warm, freezer good (our specialty)
The most common GE call: the freezer's cold but the fridge section drifts warm. Usually the defrost system (heater, sensor, or control) or a stuck air damper not letting cold air into the fresh-food side. Affordable to fix once we confirm it — and SmartHQ tells us fast on newer units.
🧊 Both sides dead / not cooling at all
When both the fridge and freezer are warm, it's a bigger cooling issue — condenser fan, main control, or the sealed system/compressor. We run the diagnostics and give you a straight repair-vs-replace number instead of guessing.
❄️ Evaporator fan & airflow
A failed evap fan or frosted coil cuts airflow and cooling — a common, affordable repair that's easy to confuse with a defrost fault. The diagnostic separates them.
Ice maker & water system
Ice maker wear, water inlet valve, or filter issues at the 7–10 year mark. Straightforward, available parts.
Compressor / sealed system
Less common on GE, but real — the most expensive call. We'll be honest if that's where yours is.

Licensed Sealed-System Specialists — Including R600a Units Others Won’t Touch
A cooling repair means opening the sealed system — the compressor, evaporator, and refrigerant. That’s licensed work, and we hold the EPA Section 608 Universal certification to do all of it: recover, fix the leak or swap the compressor, pull a deep vacuum, and recharge it right. A lot of “appliance guys” simply aren’t licensed for this.
We also handle R600a (isobutane) sealed systems — the newer flammable-refrigerant units. Most appliance repair shops won’t touch them. We do. We’ve got the certification, the tools, and the training to do it right and safe.
