Here's one that surprises people coming from a repair shop: LG makes the best laundry pair on the market right now — and honestly, we can't quite believe we're saying it either. If we wanted a front loader, it's an LG all day, new or old. But the same brand we'd steer you toward for laundry, we'd steer you away from in the kitchen. Honest is honest.
New or old, we'd buy one right now. The caveats: on OLDER units watch for bad bearings or hard-to-find boards. And the drain pump is the weak link — weaker than a wet paper towel, honestly — but it's a cheap, easy fix.
A few have given us trouble over the years, but the majority are dependable. Not the front-loader, but no real complaints.
Pleasantly surprised — LG dryers hold up. On older ones it's heaters and drum wheels/rollers; the newer rollers cost a little more, but we'd still have them.
Gorgeous fridges — but the linear-compressor risk is real. If you own one we'll fix it right and check your warranty first; we just wouldn't buy one.
Beautiful stoves, we're indifferent. Dishwashers are fine — they'll usually want a user interface at some point, and a lot of 'won't start' calls are just the door not registering as closed (an easy fix).
